A tale of 2 queens

Psalms 32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.

A woman from Sidon ruled as queen in Israel, while a Jewish woman was the queen of Persia.

Jezebel married king Ahab and brought destruction over Israel through her wicked ways. From worshipping the idols of Baal to massacring God’s prophets, she was the personification of wickedness.

When the time had arrived for God to take back the reigns of Israel, Jezebel was thrown from one of the upper rooms in her palace by her own servants. In a matter of minutes, her body was devoured by ravenous dogs, thus bringing to pass the prophesy of Elijah.

Esther, on the other hand, was born and raised in a land where the Israelites were held captive. She did not let the culture of the land affect her relationship with God. Her trust in in God to deliver the Israelites from the decree of death was appreciated by Him. He shielded the Israelites and put to death the Persian conspirator, Haman.

The King of Persia even overturned his decree in favour of the Israelites!

Irrespective of status and location, the righteous will prosper, and the ungodly will perish.

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. – Psalm 1:6
