Psalms 37:4-5 – “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”
It’s a brand new year, and what better way to usher it in than in the presence of God! If you haven’t taken time to pray and spend a few minutes alone at the feet of God, I encourage you to do so now. It is good to collectively join in with others and celebrate the beginning of a year with praise. But it is absolutely essential to have a little personal time with the Lord as well.
Go away to a quiet place for a few minutes today with your Bible and journal. Read some Scripture and meditate on what the Lord is telling you. Write down something in your journal to mark the new year – it could be verses, your thoughts or even a prayer. Spend some time in prayer and commit 2016 to the Lord. When you commit your ways to the Lord and trust Him, He will do His best work in your life.
Commit your plans, your thoughts and your desires to the Lord. Give Him free rein over your life and ask Him to plant His desires in your heart. Leave room for the Holy Spirit to work in your life this year, that He may bless you, and others through you. Thank God for what He’s done for you this far, and believe that He’s going to do much more in the year to come.
May the Lord’s favor rest on you this year. Have a blessed 2016!
