Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭18-19 – “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

There is a common modern saying: hindsight is 20/20. It basically means that when we look back on days past, we see things more clearly. We realise the mistakes we’d made, wish we had done things differently, and lament the opportunities we didn’t take advantage of. It’s easy to look back and wish we had made better decisions, spoken nicer words or acted maturely. But if we spend too much time looking back, we may miss out on the wonders that lie ahead of us.

Yes, we might have messed up in the past. But we have a God who redeems our messes when we place them at His feet. The verses about give us clear direction on what we should not do. God tells us specifically not to dwell on our past. Rather, He wants us to look ahead with hope for the future.

God is doing a new thing in your life, and it is going to be something extraordinary. Our miracle working God is at work in your life. Submit your life to Him; wait and see the beauty that He is going to create through your life. When God’s plans for your life come to fruition, the blessings in your life will spring forth and overflow into the lives of those around you as well. Forget the pain of your past, and choose to remember only the goodness of the Lord that will never fail.
