From Trials to Strength

Matthew 5:4-5 NIV

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Jesus climbed the hill to withdraw from the noise of the crowd. He wanted to teach without distraction. He was shifting His focus from healing physical bodies to curing souls and emotions.

Almost everyone has emotional triggers. They may include abuse, the death of a loved one, divorce, unemployment, a broken relationship, infertility, or a terminal diagnosis. Such experiences can stir deep grief or mourning. However, grief is just a journey, not our final destination.

When we release our emotions into God’s hands, He carries them with care. He comforts us in our pain and also uses that pain for a greater purpose. Through these moments, He draws us into a deeper connection with Him. He not only shapes our character to reflect the life of heaven, but also uses our lives for His glory.

To mourn is an inward condition. But meekness shows up in the way we deal with people. “Meek” does not mean “weak”. It means having strength under control, rather than using strength to control others.

The world believes that power, authority, and money rule everything. But Jesus reverses this ideology. He says that the meek will inherit the earth. True meekness requires courage because we must fight our own desires and choose to trust God’s plan.

So today, let us submit to His will and allow the Shepherd of our souls to lead us to green pastures and still waters, and restore our weary souls.

Prayer: Father, You know my fears, weaknesses, and anxieties. Fill me with Your peace as I release them into Your mighty hands. Help me trust that Your ways are higher, Your plans are perfect, and Your love for me is unchanging. Take my life and my future and shape them according to Your will. Help me surrender and submit Your plans. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
