Deuteronomy 11:18: Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. (KJV).
God wanted the children of Israel to pay heed to His words. If they had the desire to be blessed, they had to obey God and keep His commandments. They were commanded to lay up God’s words in their heart and soul and to bind them upon their hands and also to be worn as a band around their forehead.
God wants us to give importance to His word in our thoughts and heart. When our heart and soul is so full of God’s word, our ways will be directed by God. There will be a good sort of a coordination between our heart and the Spirit of God because it is God’s Spirit who will be in full control of our life. Meditating God’s word and memorizing scriptures help us a great deal in our everyday battles. We will be more than overcomers if we set apart some time from our busy schedule to honour God and His word. God wants undivided attention when it comes to reading and meditating His word.
Having God’s word in our heart and mind will keep us from evil. His word will prevail stronger in the midst of any conflict or challenge. His word is all true, and His word is all powerful. Take great care to preserve His word in your heart and your mind always.
