God’s peace

John 14:27:  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

We hear of terrible and devastating things all around the world today.  People kill each other, a nation with another nation.  Hatred for one another has led to innocent people losing their lives.  This world is no longer a safe place to dwell.  Each day brings with it fear, confusion, insecurity, discouragement, doubts, etc., but Jesus said 2000 years ago that He is leaving back something with us and that is called as peace.

The peace that Jesus gives is not like how the world gives us.  He gives us peace which passes all understanding.  We can be at peace even in a stormy situation knowing that He is controlling our lives. The peace that the world promises is way different than the peace that Christ gives.  God’s peace will bind our wounds.  His peace will comfort and heal us of all the difficulties that we go through.  We shall be able to handle our lives in a way that is godly and nondestructive.  We shall be free from worries since God’s divine peace will permeate our entire being.  Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, great will be our calm assurance because none of those things will ever defeat us.

God knows that we as human beings will be going through a lot of trials and difficulties.  Therefore, He promised His peace before He was betrayed and crucified.  What He told His disciples on the night of the Passover meal is the same thing He is telling us, His present day disciples, even today.  He has left His peace with us.  It is up to us to receive it and be blessed.
