Like Water Flowing from a Fountain

Psalm 119:171 – “My lips shall utter praise, for You teach me Your statutes.”

How beautiful that the Psalmist can’t stop praising his Creator, and acknowledges that the Law of the Lord is his delight. He wants his lips and his tongue to sing of God’s word.

In Aramaic the word “utter” means “to pour forth a stream of praise”, “like water flowing from a fountain”. If the praises to our God flow from our lips like water flowing from a fountain, this means that they should continuously flow, pure and clean.

“Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.” (Luke 11:36).  And “whoever drinks the water I (Jesus) give him will never thirst.  Indeed the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14).

When our hearts are clean, pure and full of light, life flows from it.  Then we speak life and praise our God from the deepest parts of our heart.  We shout praises to Him and these praises flow from our mouth like water flowing from a fountain, because we are like a spring whose waters never fail. (Isaiah 58:11).

Let your praises flow from the deepest wells in your heart, let them gush out, because from where it flows, it is unstoppable!

Psalmist rejoices when he utters praises from his lips and tongue. Like gushing water flows from fountain. That same fountain washes our sins. No other fountain can cleans us. So, let’s ask God to pour out His spirit the Holy spirit on us which washes us like a spotless garment. When light comes darkness flew away from our lives. When Jesus our Lord gave living water to Samaritan woman she rejoiced and introduced Jesus as Saviour to her people. Oh what joyful occasion it is. Complete transformation of her life is living example for all of us to rejoice in the Creator. Hallelujah.
Loving heavenly father we thank you for your steadfast love that endures forever. Help us to utter our priases from our lips through our hearts. In the mighty matchless name of Jesus let’s pray amen.
