Psalm 52:9
I will praise You forever, because You have done it; and in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.
In today’s verse, King David declares his praises to a good God who always blesses those who trust in Him. David put all his hope and confidence in God’s unfailing love, and he knew he would flourish in the Lord’s presence (Psalm 52:8). David had experienced the faithfulness of God, and so he continued to praise Him and trust Him.
Perhaps you are going through a season of discouragement in your own life. Maybe you have experienced God’s goodness in the past, but you don’t see Him working in your current situation. You may feel like you’re walking through a wilderness, but the truth is that you’re not walking alone. The Lord is with you – He has not abandoned you.
When you’re tempted to doubt God’s goodness in your life, take a moment to remember what He has done for you this far. He has saved you from eternal darkness and brought you into His marvellous light. He has provided all your needs and protected you from evil. Will He not help you through this difficult season and lead you into the glorious future He’s planned for you?
Like David, take a moment to shift your focus from worry to worship. Just as David praised God in the presence of the saints, look for someone you can share your testimony with. When your current realities start weighing you down, start counting your blessings and live in remembrance. It will give you the assurance you need to keep trusting in the goodness of God.
