My Refuge and My Strength

Psalm 91:9-10 (NKJV) – Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.

When we look at the world today, we see chaos and suffering all around us. Diseases, financial troubles, wars, and natural disasters are in the news, every day. Our near and dear ones are affected by these troubles in some way or the other.

This is all very difficult for us to deal with and takes a toll on our mental and physical health. How do we cope with this?  Where do we find our refuge? The Bible very clearly says that God is our refuge and our strength, and He is always with us during our time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). He is our Hope and our Shelter in times of trouble and shields us from all that is wrong in this world.

Once we make God our Refuge and our dwelling place, His hand is always over us, protecting us from all chaos and troubles of this world. Does this mean, that no storm will ever touch us? No, it means that through every storm, our God will be with us, and we do not need to be afraid.

Through God, we are secure in this world for not only has He promised that no evil will come upon us but also that no plague will come near our dwelling place. He sets us apart from this world and we have everlasting life through Him. When we put our trust and faith in Him, not one day will go by when he is not with us. He is Emmanuel – God with us.
