One Big Family

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Hebrews 13:2 NKJV

It’s strange how even with all the technology our generation has developed to keep people connected, bring communities together and provide platforms for the minorities, we still struggle to communicate and understand one and another.

While the world is entangled in a vicious cycle of ‘me’, ‘myself’ and ‘I’, the word of God bridges this gap we have created for ourselves. One of the most striking aspects about Jesus’s earthly ministry is that He was always around people. Everything He did only brought more people together and this elevated the essence of an ideal society, by serving one and other. It hasn’t changed much ever since, while Jesus established the truth of life, we as modern day believers are called to be in community with one another. As children of God, we symbolically represent Christ’s body and just as He gave Himself to the world, we are called to give not only to our families, near and dear ones, but to all those who are in search of truth, hope and life.

It doesn’t have to always be monetary or materialistic help, it can be as simple as looking out for someone who looks a little dull, or a word of encouragement that can make someone’s day, maybe even say a word of prayer for someone in need. As the word of God commands us to do whatever we do, as if we do unto God, let His love flow through us, change people’s lives, bring souls to His kingdom, while we only desire to be His choicest vessels.

True, reaching out is so important. I have realized how comforting home cooked meals are especially when you aren’t keeping well. Will look out for opportunities to prepare for someone who needs.
