Our God is a great God

II Samuel 7:22:  Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.  (KJV).

This is the prayer that is made by David when God said to him that one of his son would  build a dwelling place for God.  David was the one who wanted to build a temple for God, but when God said He had other plans, he accepted it.  He was quite happy with God’s decision and began to praise Him.

What would be our reaction when God sort of rejects our plans and says that He would ask someone else to do what we intend to do for Him?  We would definitely feel disappointed and upset that God rejected our so called “beautiful” plans.  David instead chose to say yes to God’s plans.  He knew God knew what was best for him.  He begins to praise God for His greatness and for His wisdom.  He acknowledges the supremacy of God and is in awe of His might and fame.  We should always remember that we serve a great God, who is super-wise.  He knows how to steer our life around.  It is better to always trust God’s wisdom and let Him have His plans for us.  There is no one like our God.  We have heard about God through His word, we have heard about Him through the sermons, etc.  He is a Wonderful Counsellor indeed.

Only when we draw close to Him, will we able to know what is in His mind/heart.  Never get discouraged when your plans do not work.  Always remember that He is a great God.
