Psalm 116:6-7 NIV

“The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.”

An unwary person is one who is not aware or uncertain about what challenges lie ahead of him. We all are unwary of the challenges we need to face or the problems that lie ahead of our path. but do not worry, for our GOD is promising us so clearly in HIS word, that the LORD protects the unwary. Yes, we might be low, depressed, agonized with the various circumstances and situations that we have gone through in the past few months, but we can for sure be assured that HE will save us from whatever be the problem and HE will give us the strength to endure whatever be the loss.

The Lord tells us in the above verse, to return to our rest, and by this, HE not only means physical rest but also mental rest. in Hebrew, the term rest is called “Nuach” meaning to be quiet and to cease, and in Greek, the term rest is called “anapausis” meaning to refresh. GOD is telling us, to take a back seat and give a break to our anxious thoughts, and instead, HE is instructing us to quieten our spirits and refresh ourselves with the word of God which brings us HOPE in every troubled situation of our life.

One of the best examples of a predicament in the Bible, is the situation Moses and Israelites were caught in, during their exodus from Egypt, as they faced the huge red sea ahead of them, and the armies of the pharoh behind them, it was chaos as people were panic-stricken and blaming Moses for bringing them out of Egypt to just die a wild death in the wilderness, and we see how GOD quietened the spirit of Moses and assured him to tell the panic-stricken people “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today.” Exodus 14:13 NLT.

So, Let us etch this verse in our hearts, “Don’t be afraid, Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today”.  for we know our LORD JESUS is faithful and a GOD who infuses HOPE, even in hopeless situations. . Amen.
