1 Corinthians 16:13-14 – “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”
We normally do not think much of our stability when we stand up. We sit down and stand up as and when the need arises, without giving it a second thought. That’s because it’s easy to stand firm on solid ground. We trust our legs are strong enough to hold our weight and the ground will not give way beneath us.
But try to stand up when the ground is shaking during an earthquake, the waves are coming at you hard on the beach or you’re trying to climb a steep hill, and you’ll know it’s not an easy task. It’s easy to stand firm in our faith when life is going along smoothly. Even small hiccups in our plans do not throw us off balance. But when we are caught in the middle of a storm, the ground beneath us becomes shaky and we tend to lose our balance.
Just as Paul advised the early church, let us learn to stand firm in our faith, no matter how the circumstances around us may toss and turn. God’s love for us never falters or fails, and His promises remain forever. Anchor yourself in God’s Word, put Your trust in Him alone, pray fervently, and you will remain stable through the storm.
