Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sound Engineer to oversee the audio needs of our church services, events, and productions. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality sound for live worship, recordings, and broadcasts. The ideal candidate will have a keen ear for audio excellence, strong technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain audio equipment. Key Responsibilities
Live Sound Mixing
- Operate and mix live audio for worship services, special events, and productions.
- Ensure a clear, balanced, and immersive audio experience for both in-person and online audiences.
- Adjust microphone placements, sound levels, and monitor mixes for musicians, speakers, and vocalists.
Recording & Editing
- Record sermons, worship sessions, and special programs for streaming and archiving.
- Edit and enhance audio recordings for clarity and quality across church media platforms.
- Manage sound effects, background music, and audio cues for church productions.
Equipment Setup & Maintenance
- Set up, test, and operate microphones, mixing consoles, speakers, and other audio gear.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform routine maintenance on all audio equipment.
- Recommend and implement upgrades or repairs to ensure top-tier sound quality.
Audio Networking & Dante Protocol Management
- Design, install, and manage audio networks using Dante for seamless digital sound transmission.
- Configure and monitor networked audio devices for reliable performance and minimal downtime.
- Maintain a well-documented and organized network setup for future scalability.
Collaboration & Training
- Work closely with the worship team, pastors, and media team to deliver the best possible sound quality.
- Train and oversee volunteer sound technicians to ensure consistency and excellence in audio production.
- Provide technical support for guest speakers, musicians, and special church events.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of live sound engineering, mixing consoles, and signal processing.
Proficiency in DAWs such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live (preferred).
Experience with networking, routing, and audio-over-IP solutions, especially Dante.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
Excellent ear for music, sound balancing, and clarity.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Previous experience in a church or live sound environment is a plus.
Education & Experience
Degree or certification in audio engineering, sound production, or networking (preferred but not required).
Hands-on experience in live sound mixing, recording, and equipment maintenance.
Familiarity with Dante-enabled audio systems is highly desirable.
Schedule & Availability
Tuesday – Saturday (10 AM – 6 PM), Sunday (7 AM – 8 PM)
Must be available for Sunday services, midweek rehearsals, and special church events.
Flexibility to work during holidays and special occasions when needed.
