Jeremiah 6:16a—”This is what the LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’”
Somedays we are stuck in a rut. We don’t know how to proceed with our life – which means we have an important decision that lies ahead of us. Decision with regard to our marriage, house, child(ren), career, or studies. How do we proceed?
In the world, the practical and most effective method would be to put together a pros and cons list and then decide based on the information that you collate.
What does the Bible say?
1- Take note of where you are – “Stand at the crossroads and look;…” (Jeremiah 6:16a)
2- Go to God with your decision – “…ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it.” (Jeremiah 6:16a)
3- Remind yourself that God loves you and is in control. He is intimately involved in your life –
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.”(Psalms 37:23, 24)
4- Trust only in the ways of God –
“The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.” (Psalms 37:31)
5- Go to God to uphold your relationship with Him than to ask –
“(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto.” (Matthew 6:32)
Remember, God’s ways are not like ways. God’s perfect timing is not the same as our need-for-instant time. God’s promises are true. So we need to bring the decision to God’s hands and leave it there. Submit it to Him. (Psalm 46:10,) “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” He is our author and creator. All good things begin in Him.
“Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.” (Psalms 37:34)
