Isaiah 55:9 – “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
It’s no secret that human beings think a lot. God has designed our brains to process an exponential number of signals at any given time, and only a fraction of them are our comprehensible thoughts. Our conscious thoughts are fired up right from the second we hear the alarm in the morning, or perhaps, even earlier. And our minds do not quiet down when we’re ready for bed either. Often, it’s our very thoughts that keep us awake at night.
In today’s verse, God reminds us that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. While we allow our thoughts to wander, God’s thoughts are firm. He doesn’t change His mind like we do. While our minds may wander and our thoughts might turn to anxiety, God’s mind remains calm and steadfast. Isn’t it reassuring that we have a God who thinks good thoughts about us?
God’s ways are higher than our own. His plans for us far surpass anything we might have in mind for ourselves. When we turn our minds towards Christ and allow Him to influence our thinking, our thoughts become aligned to His. Submit your thoughts to God and follow His leading. You will experience His joy and a peace that surpasses all understanding.
