Matthew 11:29-30 – “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Burdens aren’t easy, especially when they’re emotional or physical trials that weigh on us night and day. But a gym enthusiast would beg to differ. Weight training is an integral part of physical exercise in most gyms. A person can start off with a light set of dumbbells, but would eventually have to graduate to heavier weights if they wanted to increase their strength and build endurance.
The trials in our life are no different. The weight of our troubles are definitely not easy to bear, but they also help us trust in the Lord and grow spiritually. The circumstances that we consider burdens could very well be the training ground for us to mature in faith.
If you feel you are carrying a heavy burden, examine your faith in the Lord. God says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Allow the Lord to come alongside you, and shoulder the weight you are trying to carry on your own. God wants to lighten your burden, but you need to allow Him to do that. Cast your burdens on the Lord, rely on His grace and strength, and trust that He will use this experience to help you grow in faith and maturity.
