John 8:12 – Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Light is one thing we almost always take for granted. When the sun sets, we switch on our room lights. When the power goes out, the backup generator kicks in and the lights flicker back on almost immediately. If at all the power doesn’t come back, we reach for our phones or flashlights and light up a candle. We really don’t like it being pitch black around us.
Light gives us perspective, shows us the way and prevents us from bumping into things. In today’s verse, Jesus tells us that He is the light of the world. As long as we have His presence in our lives, we will never walk in darkness.
