Matthew 14:30-31 – “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'”
Peter had faith when he stepped out of the boat, and onto the water toward Jesus. And it must have been massive faith because Peter, a fisherman by trade, understood the perils of deep waters. He took a leap of faith, trusted Jesus and miraculously walked on water. However, moments later, Peter was afraid and started to sink.
Have you ever felt that way? You take a huge leap of faith and move in the direction God wants you to go. But suddenly you are overcome with fear, doubt, anxiety and feel yourself drowning in the midst of what you knew was God’s will for you. In such situations, we must learn to react like Peter.
Peter didn’t remain silent or try to swim away from Jesus. He cried out to Jesus and asked Him to save him. And immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. Do you feel like you’re overwhelmed emotionally, physically, or even spiritually? Cry out to Jesus and ask Him to rescue you. Allow Him to hold you, and help you get back into the comfort of His presence. Jesus is all you need… call out to Him today!
