Hebrews 10:10 – We are made holy through the sacrifice Christ made in his body once and for all time.
The Son of God became the Lamb of God, the cross became the altar, and we were made holy through the sacrifice Christ made in His body once and for all time.
What needed to be paid was paid. What had to be done was done. Innocent blood was required. Innocent blood was offered, once and for all time. Bury those five words deep in your heart. Once and for all time.
Jesus seeks to restore personhood, not diminish it. The spiritual path he teaches empowers human dignity, emboldens abundant vitality, and cultivates a flourishing as radiant as the lilies of the field in full blossom. Jesus proclaims, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Such restorative vitality flows from God’s abundant compassion.
As surely as our suffering moves God, God beams with delight when we shine in the fullness of our power and giftedness. When we use our gifts, claim our power, find our voice, or own our dignity, God cheers for us. “That’s my girl,” the voice from the heavens champions. “That’s my boy. That’s my beloved in whom I am well pleased.”
