Proverbs 3:12 – “For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”
The word ‘discipline’ isn’t one we’re comfortable with. It brings to mind punishments from teachers, rigid regimens and strict action taken against wrongdoers. But today’s verse sheds a different light on discipline and correction. The Bible tells us that God delights in us and that’s why He corrects us. He loves us too much to let us remain the way we are.
Just as a father is proud of his child’s achievements but encourages him/her to do better, the Lord too does the same with us. When we mess up, God allows us to bear the consequences but He also grants us strength to overcome, wisdom to learn from our mistakes and grace to do better next time.
God does not delight in our wrongdoing, neither does He enjoy seeing us suffer. If you are going through a rough patch in your life, do not be discouraged. As long as you are in touch with your Heavenly Father, He will work it all out for your good and His glory.
Prayer: Lord, I’m sorry for not walking in your will at times. I know You are moulding me to be a better person. Renew my mind and make me more like You, Father. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
