Ephesians 3:17: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.
Paul’s prayer to God about the church in Ephesus is that Christ may live in their hearts by faith and that they be rooted and grounded in love. He wanted them to make Christ as their first priority, that nothing else should capture their hearts, except Christ. He prayed that they be rooted and grounded in love.
When we allow Christ to live in our hearts on purpose, we tend to become more like Christ on a everyday basis. Our words change, our character change, our tone softens, we become more forgiving and loving. Just like how a tree sends her roots deeper and wider into the soil and becomes grounded and firm, in the same way we have to send our roots deeper and deeper in Christ. When we interact with people, they should be able to recognize the love and touch of Jesus through our lives. We should be quick in doing good and slow to judge, rather do not judge. When we spread the message of love through our life, Christ will be made known to everyone.
This is the season of great joy and celebration. Let us lift up Christ unto the world that lives in hopelessness and sin. Spread the word that He lives by allowing Him to dwell in you firstly. Read God’s word and spread your roots deeply. Listen to His voice speaking in your heart, the place where He lives. Do what He says.
