Isaiah 41:13 – “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”
Holding someone’s hand is an intimate gesture meant to convey love, care and compassion. We only hold hands with people we are really familiar with, close friends and family. It’s a touch of affection letting the other person know we’re with them, right where they need us. Isn’t it amazing that the God of the universe, Master of the sky, the sea, and the land, says that He will hold our hand?
If we believe the Bible to be true, we must take God at His Word. In today’s verse, God reminds us that we don’t have to fear. A pandemic might overtake the world, we might have to live through unforeseen difficulties, and yet, the Lord has not left us. We cannot let fear of the unknown overcome the peace that our Lord Jesus Christ promised us.
If you still lack courage to face the world, it’s time to look at where your help comes from. Your help does not come from a bank account, a good job, a stable economy, high profile connections, or even government policies. Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2). If He said He will help you, you can be sure He will. Spend some time in God’s presence today – quieten your fears and reinforce your faith with God’s promises. Let God hold your hand, comfort you with His love, and help you take the next step in accordance with His will.
