But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.” Jonah 2:9
Sacrifice resonates with surrendering a possession.
Is thanksgiving to the Lord Jesus Christ a sacrifice?
Jonah prayed this prayer in Jonah 2:9 when he was in the belly of the fish. He was in this situation due to his disobedience. He was a prophet called by God to preach but he disobeyed. He was thrown into the sea and was swallowed by a fish.
At the lowest point of his life, Jonah did three things.
He gave thanks to God, sacrificially
He confessed and committed to obey
Acknowledged that his salvation is from the Lord
This was painful but he pushed himself to act
In our lives when we hit rock bottom, search for those moments in our pain and brokenness, when we can give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, sacrificially. Then, the Lord Jesus Christ will truly reach out and save us.
Lord Jesus Christ will turn our mourning into dancing and our sorrow into joy
Daniel praised and thanked God the Word of God says give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will
Praise the Lord Brother. I was blessed by this word today.. Just want to share that as i just finished my prayer and came across to read Jeremiah 31:13. And as i just saw your devotional word, i was astonished to see how Lord speaks and the same words… Brother i too have been troubled in my heart in many things.. Have lost many things in my life. But my only hope is in my Lord… And i am desperately waiting on him… All i desire is my God, his love that will never leave me and that my remaining life and i be a useful vessel to him..
Dear sis Matilda,
Great to know that the Lord spoke to you through those words . Joel 2:25 says “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you “. Keep your trust in the Lord Jesus.
