YES AND AMEN

2 Corinthians 1:20– “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

According to the dictionary, the word ‘yes’ is used to express affirmation. When it comes to our God, “yes” is directly related to Christ and the weight of the word completely changes because the “yes” of God has to do with His promises. “God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19 NIV).

Therefore “all the promises of God in Christ are Yes”, none of His promises have failed, and His promises will all be fulfilled. One of the greatest promises of God is His love for us, revealed through Jesus’ death on the cross, who died for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8). Another is the forgiveness of our sins; another is the promise of salvation through our belief in Christ; yet another is the promise of eternal life with Him.

Jesus is the “Yes” of God; Jesus is also the “Amen” the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. (Revelation 3:14). “Amen” is the word we, the church, say as believers in Christ, meaning “so be it”, that by faith we believe the promise, or rather, in all the promises of God.

And – everything, all the promises, all the “Yesses” – and all the “Amens” to the ‘Glory’ of God the Father and for His praise.

PRAYER

“Father God, thank you for caring so much for us, thank you for all your promises and your faithfulness towards us. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
