2 Corinthians 9:8 – “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
The word ‘abound’ has multiple meanings, in each one, it means an abundance, and in this case, an abundance of God’s grace.
If you have ever been under a fast non-stopping stream of water, besides it being overwhelming, the first thing that happens, is being unable to breathe. Now, picture yourself under a waterfall. Can you imagine the feeling under a waterfall? That is exactly what our God does towards us with His Grace!
He is pouring towards us His unceasing grace, goodness, kindness, benignity, forgiveness, patience, mercy, peace, love. How can it not flow through us? Everything our God does towards us is overwhelming. If we are vessels, and we are, how can we contain what He graciously, abundantly and unceasingly pours towards us?
Therefore, we always have more than what we need: we have it for ourselves, and we have so much more that it pours from us as well. As it is written: “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.” (Luke 6:38 NIV).
We have sufficiency in all things, including in what we can give back to our Savior directly: our time, our talents, our earnings; and indirectly: when we help others with what we have. It is a continuous flow: the more we give, the more our God pours onto our laps, into ourselves.
PRAYER
“Thank you Father for Your unceasing grace. Make us vessels and use us so that through us others can be overwhelmed by You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
