Ephesians 4:7 “To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.“
In this verse, the apostle Paul wrote to the saints of Ephesus, emphasizing the different gifts Christ has apportioned for each one according to His grace. He urged them to live a life worthy of the calling to prepare God’s people for works of service and through which the body of Christ may be built up.
God has entrusted us with atleast one spiritual gift. He gives them to each one just as He determines. (1 Corinthians 12:11). Wondering what those gifts are ? The gifts of God’s grace are,
Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers (Ephesians 4:11), encouraging others, contributing to the needs of others by giving generously, showing leadership to govern diligently, showing mercy to do it cheerfully (Romans 12: 6-8), the message of wisdom, the message of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miraculous powers, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in different kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 12: 8-10)
Don’t we invest in many thought processes when we plan to give gifts to someone that benefits the person? However, if the person neglects the gift and does not use it, would we feel good about it? Imagine how much God would have thought about it when he apportioned that gift to you. So encourage you not to take it lightly.
What should you do with the gifts? We must keep in mind that every gift and calling comes with responsibility. Gifts will be evident only when we exercise them. If we don’t use the gift, is it of any use? Why don’t people use gifts? They forget about the gifts or haven’t figured out their gifts yet or are too busy and haven’t found time to use them.
Perhaps you could have made a commitment to use your gift this year. If so, how is your New Year’s progression chart looking? The point is that we should strive to use the gifts God has given to serve others (the body of Christ). Let us make a commitment today to focus on serving God to the best of our ability. His gifts and calling are not temporary; they are permanent (Romans 11:29) which would have a greater impact on the local church if we were willing to operate with our gifts. Stay blessed!
