Nehemiah 8:10
“For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
The Bible tells us that there are two kinds of sorrow we might face (2 Corinthians 7:10). The first is godly sorrow which leads us to repent of our sins; it brings us life. The second is worldly sorrow that saps our strength.
Godly sorrow is essential for our spiritual walk but we must remember that God does not condemn us (Romans 8:1). Our repentance leads to our salvation, which will only bring us joy. On the other hand, worldly sorrow is what people who don’t believe in God may experience. For those of us who know the love of Christ, we may grieve but not without hope.
We know that God is for us, and He will work everything out for our good and His glory. So, let’s take today’s verse to heart and remember the joy and hope we have in the Lord. When we seek the Lord and live according to His will, we get to experience the joy and peace we find in Him.
If you’re going through a difficult time lately, surrender your worries and cares into the Lord’s hand. Rely on His grace and strength to guide you moment by moment. As you depend on Him, you will realize that it’s possible to find joy even in the darkest days because the Lord is with you and He will never leave you.
