Psalms 22:27-28 NIV

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before Him, for dominion belongs to the Lord, and He rules over the nations.

David the Psalmist shows us in Psalm 22 how to respond when facing trials. Though he initially felt forsaken, he ultimately recognized God’s faithfulness and praised Him for rescue.

Picture the sun casting light over every corner of the earth, bringing warmth and life. Psalms 22:27-28 offers a similar vision, describing a day when “all the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord” and “all the families of the nations will bow down before Him.” Just as sunlight reaches even the most distant places, God’s dominion touches every life, inviting all to turn toward Him.

In this allegory, nations and families resemble landscapes – fields, forests, and mountains looking to the sun for warmth. No matter how far they seem, the sun’s rays reach them, just as God’s presence touches every heart. No soul is beyond the Lord’s reach. His love stretches across the earth, calling all to remember Him and recognize His rule. As the sun rises daily, uniting all people under one sky, God’s dominion unites us as His creation. The Psalmist assures us that, like sunlight, God’s light is inescapable, offering comfort that never fades. When we acknowledge that “dominion belongs to the Lord,” we find peace in His presence.

Psalms 22:27-28 calls us to turn from our own shadows and lift our faces toward His light. In recognizing His dominion, we join a universal chorus, each of us part of the landscape basking in His love and wisdom. Just as plants stretch toward the sun, we are invited to turn to Him, finding strength in His eternal, life-giving presence.
