1 John 3:5 NIV
But you know that He appeared so that He might take away our sins. And in Him is no sin.
Today, sin is often minimized with excuses like, “I was under pressure” or “nobody’s perfect,” avoiding the truth—sin is rebellion against God and rejection of His rule. Recognising sin as lawlessness, as the apostle John teaches, is the first step toward true transformation. Without this acknowledgement, we risk overlooking the gravity of our separation from God.
John’s message is clear: Jesus came to “take away our sins.” A timeless truth in which Christ offers profound hope for those struggling with guilt, the power of sin, or its consequences.
Jesus’ sacrifice removes sin’s penalty and bridges the gap to God. Through faith, we receive forgiveness and freedom. He provides strength to overcome addictions and transform ourselves. His victory over sin offers hope in a broken world.
Christ’s work requires a response from us today:
- Accept His grace, as it is impossible to remove the penalty of sin on our own. We need Jesus’ work on the cross.
- Submit to His power to experience true change in our hearts and lives.
- Live with hope knowing that sin will be gone one day, which motivates us to persist and trust Him every day.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, whose work on the cross transforms lives. We seek Your forgiveness, embracing the freedom and hope You give through Christ. Help us walk by faith and share Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
