Ephesians 2:4-5 NKJV
God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.
God’s nature is defined by His richness in mercy and greatness in love. These attributes are not reserved for those who are “worthy” by human standards but are extended generously to everyone. His mercy reflects a willingness to withhold the judgment we deserve, while His love is an active, self-giving force that seeks our ultimate good.
Before encountering Christ, we were in a state of spiritual death—a condition of separation from God caused by our sins. This spiritual death meant we were completely incapable of bridging the gap between us and God through our own efforts. No amount of good deeds, moral behavior, or personal achievements could undo the damage caused by sin or restore our broken relationship with Him.
However, God’s love is so profound that He did not leave us in this hopeless state. Through Jesus Christ, He intervened in our spiritual condition, offering us life in the place of death. This is how we are “made alive together with Christ”. It is a complete renewal of our spiritual nature.
Let us not forget that this is not a reward for good behavior or a result of our efforts. Instead, it is entirely a gift of grace—God’s undeserved favor toward us. This salvation, grounded in grace, emphasizes His unearned favor and invites us to respond with gratitude and devotion.
May we share this message with others, inviting them to experience the transforming power of God’s grace.
