John 15:19 NKJV

“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

Jesus spoke these words to prepare His disciples for the opposition they would face. This powerful verse emphasises our distinct identity and calling as believers chosen explicitly by Christ. Just as Noah was chosen and set apart in his generation, we are called to stand out in ours.

In 1 Peter 2:9, believers are described as “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special possession.” Romans 12:2 further instructs us to “not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Like Daniel in Babylon, who purposed not to defile himself with the king’s food, we too must make conscious decisions to live differently from the world’s standards.

Being chosen by God means more than being different; it means carrying His light in dark places. Though this may lead to misunderstanding or rejection, remember that the world rejected Jesus Himself, and He came to save them. Let us embrace our identity as God’s chosen ones today, knowing that our distinction from the world is our greatest strength. Stand firm in your calling – you were selected for this time!
