Psalm 145:9 NKJV
“The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.”
“God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good.” It’s an automatic response that’s been programmed into our brains. But it is also a deep truth that can have a profound impact on how we view God in our daily lives. Do we really, truly believe God is good? Not just when the sun is shining and our prayers have been answered, but also when we’re stuck in traffic on a flooded road and God seems silent?
In today’s verse, King David reminds us that the Lord is good to all. His tender mercies and compassion rest on all His creation. That means we are recipients of His goodness and mercy – whether we deserve it or not. God did not treat us as our sins deserve (Psalm 103:10) but showered us with His mercy, grace, compassion and love (Psalm 145:8). He is a good God – even on our bad days!
God has good plans for His children that are far greater than our own (Isaiah 55:8-9). He has a way of redeeming even the bad things that happen to us (Genesis 50:20). The next time you find yourself getting irritated and struggling to find joy, use these three words to reframe your perspective – God is good.
God is kind and compassionate, even when others in your life are not. He sees what you’re going through and He will work it all out for your good (Romans 8:28). Be assured that you will see the goodness of the Lord in your life (Psalm 27:13).
