Hebrews 4:16 NKJV

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The book of Hebrews features the chapter commonly referred to as the Hall of Faith (Hebrews 11), which lists the mighty warriors of faith. These men and women of God placed their confidence in Him rather than relying on what was visible or tangible. If a hall of grace were to exist, God would inscribe our names on it even if we weren’t legally eligible.

Despite having exemplary parents, children often stumble and make mistakes. Yet, parents continually extend grace and mercy to their children. Our Heavenly Father is the epitome of grace and mercy. While we were still sinners, He reached out to us with His grace and compassion. We cannot misinterpret this as a license to sin but rather as an opportunity to repent and reconcile with God.

Humans often fall short due to sin despite our best efforts to stay righteous. Our Heavenly Father understands our frailty, yet He gives us the clearance to approach His throne of grace. Unless we approach Him boldly, embracing our identity as disciples of Jesus, we will fail to obtain mercy and find grace.

Just like Peter, we may boldly declare our commitment to Jesus, only to deny Him when it’s inconvenient (Luke 22:54-62). However, with sincere and repentant hearts, we get to receive His mercy and grace that can transform our lives. Let us be mindful to never grow cold in our relationship with God but boldly approach Him for daily renewals of His grace.
