Romans 8:3
What the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh.
The achievement-driven mind of humanity has led to encouraging effects in the fields of innovation, research and discovery. Man has tread upon extreme challenges to conquer things that were once deemed impossible. Humanity has likewise continually attempted to earn salvation by works to fulfill the law. While we are made in God’s image and have great potential, it is God who guides us towards salvation and helps us fulfill His purpose.
Since time immemorial, fear of death and life after death has caused mankind to submit to nefarious forces. But the Bible speaks about God’s redemptive heart for the fallen nature of humans, revealing that we cannot earn salvation by good works but only through faith. Romans 8:3 starts with an emphasis on the weakness of our flesh. Despite wanting to be righteous, we cannot achieve it because of the sin embedded in our flesh. To reconcile us humans back to God, a sinless being, God himself needed to intervene and pay our debts.
When God sent His Son, Jesus, He bore our filthiness and became sin itself, nailed to the cross, so that we don’t have to bear the punishment for our sins but simply accept His sacrifice. His boundless love for us kept Him on the cross where our sins took Him. Let us forever remember the greatest sacrifice in history that cost Jesus His own life but paved a path for us to reunite with God.
