Philippians 3:20

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Citizenship isn’t just a legal label. It’s a symbol of identity, inclusion, and shared values. This is why many individuals, despite being born in one country, choose to migrate elsewhere in search of a deeper sense of belonging. We invest so much energy and thought into earthly matters, despite knowing that our time here is only fleeting. Yet we often treat the afterlife with a surprising sense of indifference.

However, our Lord deeply cares about our lives beyond this world. He desires for each of us to receive the greatest gift of all, the eternal citizenship of heaven, where true belonging and everlasting peace await. To this end, we eagerly wait for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This naturally leads us to wonder: how can one obtain this graciously offered citizenship of heaven? Surprisingly, the path is simpler than we might imagine. Unlike the world, our Lord does not require us to possess wealth, power, status, or qualifications to grant us heavenly citizenship. He gives it to us through His grace. All He is looking for is a sincere heart that longs to draw near to Him, that humbly submits and is open to transformation. And if that heart is yours, then you have an opportunity to receive this citizenship.

Prayer: Lord, I come to You with a heart that longs to know You more. I lay down my pride, my fears, and my past. Make me new. Let me walk as a citizen of heaven, reflecting Your grace in all I do. Amen.
