Shining in the Darkness

Psalm 121:7 NASB

The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.

We live in a world shadowed by evil. It manifests in actions, thoughts and spiritual forces, and reminds us of the enemy’s temporary influence over this earth. Yet the Bible reassures us that Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12). Those who receive Him step out of darkness, step into His marvelous light, and are called to shine brightly in the world.

Take the story of a well-known preacher. For years, he lived in constant terror because his mother was possessed by a demonic spirit. Every night, fear kept him awake as the evil presence entered his room. But everything changed when a friend shared the Gospel with him. The moment he confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9), he witnessed the evil spirit flee from his room. Through persistent prayer, his mother was completely delivered and spent the rest of her days sharing how Jesus saved her life.

This is the reality for every believer. When we put our trust in Christ, evil loses its grip on us. God protects us and seals us with His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). Scripture promises that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow (Philippians 2:10). His name carries absolute authority; it causes demons to flee and shields us from harm.

So, let us focus on growing our faith and trusting the Lord who protects us. Let’s stand firm in His strength and live in a manner that shines His light in a dark world.
