Romans 5:1
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Imagine a child who breaks a glass at home. Before the parent could say a word, the child may hide, avoid eye contact, and think, “I’m in trouble.” But when the parent says, “I forgive you. Come here,” the child no longer has to hide or run. The relationship is restored.
Similarly, this verse gives us a beautiful picture of what Jesus has done for us. We are not made right with God because we prayed enough, worked hard enough, or never failed. We are justified by faith because of what Jesus has already accomplished for us.
This means our relationship with God is no longer a courtroom where we stand trembling, trying to prove ourselves. Jesus paid the price, and through Him we have peace with God. The battle is over, not because life is suddenly easy, but because we are no longer separated from God. We can now live with Him, trust Him, and walk with Him.
We also stand in grace. Here, “grace” means “God’s favour,” which is not something we earn every morning and lose every evening. When we fail, we can repent and return to Him rather than hiding in shame. We do not have to keep score of our failures when Jesus has already settled the account.
Today, stop measuring your worth by the world’s standards. Your value and standing are found in Jesus, not in how perfectly you perform. Let this truth replace guilt with gratitude, fear with confidence, and striving with worship.
