Hebrews 12:14
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
The above verse calls us to pause and examine our hearts. It reminds us to pursue peace in all our relationships and to live a holy life. We cannot choose one and neglect the other. Both are part of the transformation Christ is working in us.
When we pursue peace, practice forgiveness, and live in a way that honours God, we reflect our Saviour’s heart. Only the Holy Spirit can empower us to live in peace with others.
Living in peace means choosing to forgive when we are hurt, and taking the first step to restore relationships. We may not agree with others, but we should treat them with love and respect. We must value relationships more than winning an argument, let go of our need to be right, and allow God to work in our hearts. In this way, we don’t just talk about peace – we actively pursue it.
Holiness is not an option; it is a requirement. To be holy means that God has set us apart for Himself and for His purposes. We belong to God, and we should live in ways that honour Him.
Holiness urges us to notice the small details in our daily lives – the thoughts we entertain, the words we utter, the mindset we maintain, and the decisions we make when we think no one is observing. Holiness does not mean avoiding what is wrong; it means choosing what pleases God, even in the small, unseen moments of our lives.
Let peace and holiness shape who we are in Christ and how we live each day. They are not just positions we hold as believers; they should become a reality in our daily lives.
