John 11:25

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

The story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead is so well known that it’s easy to overlook the details of the conversation between Jesus and Martha.

The concept of resurrection is central to us believers. Yet, we live in a modern world that tries very hard to hide death. We do everything possible to avoid aging, stay healthy, and look strong. But beneath all the gym routines and healthy lifestyles, we still battle the same old fears of facing the end of life.

Today’s verse summarizes the good news of our Lord Jesus. He says that anyone who believes in Him will live, even after death. He says that life comes only through Him.

In our everyday lives, we experience grief and loss in many forms, even before we face physical death. This can happen when a relationship breaks down, when dreams fall apart, or when we are totally stressed. We try to quick-fix these feelings with shopping, scrolling on our phones, or staying busy. But Jesus offers a real cure rather than a temporary distraction.

We don’t have to carry our burdens alone. Jesus Christ brings hope into the darkest phases of our lives. He promises that physical death is not the end. He grants us peace, joy, and eternal life. We don’t have to wait until the future to experience His life-giving presence; Jesus can renew our lives right now.

When worry creeps in, we can choose to believe that Jesus is our only true source of life and hope. Instead of turning to temporary things that never satisfy us, let’s reach out to our Saviour, Lord Jesus.
