God’s promise

Acknowledgement of who God is and the credibility of His words plays a pivotal role in one’s faith. In the mentioned verse, we see David’s prayer where he recognizes that God’s word is true and remembers God’s good promises concerning His life. The context here is the word that came to David about God’s covenant, promising him a lasting dynasty and a future king (the Messiah) from his line.  The King of Israel is delighted and prays for the fulfilling of the promise given to him.

When there is a waiting period between God’s spoken word and the appointed time of it’s accomplishment, thanking God and preparing for the promise is expected. The actions of preparation and willingness to upskill in character is an indication of faith. Although David couldn’t see anything at work, he trusted God to accomplish what was promised due to His unwavering faith in God.

Today in our everyday lives, are we waiting for God’s promise to come to pass? Is it hard for us to wait on the Lord due to the delay in the blessings to unfold in the visible realm? Let us choose us meditate on God’s word and speak life over His promises until they come to pass in our lives.
