A balanced life

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ – “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The quest for a balanced life can be quite exhausting. Most adults struggle to find time for everything they have heaped on their plates. Jobs, family commitments, higher education, ministry, friends, and things to do at home pull us in completely different directions. We find ourselves walking on a tightrope while balancing a stack of plates on our heads. Soon, we realise that some of the plates are falling down and we are powerless to stop them. But there is a solution.

A tightrope walker does not concentrate on his flimsy footing, the distance he has left or the weight he is carrying. He keeps his eyes focused on one spot in a distance – his destination. When we are trying to balance all the different areas of our lives, we need to keep our eyes fixed on the author of our lives – Jesus. When our eyes are fixed on Him, when we make God and His will a priority in our lives, everything else will fall in place.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for holding us in the palm of Your hands. You know everything that’s happening in our lives right now. When we feel overwhelmed and pulled in different directions, help us keep our eyes fixed on You. We pray that you will help us achieve balance in the different areas of our lives.
