“Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High.” Psalm 50:14
Thankfulness is an expression of gratitude. When someone helps us, does us a favour, or gives us something we want or need, we are generally thankful. And we express it in many ways. If we are so appreciative towards the people around us, how much more should we regard the things that the Lord has done for us.
The Bible has always stressed on the importance of having a thankful heart. In fact, the Bible maintains that we should be thankful in every situation. Our thanksgiving should not be determined by our circumstances. So, we may ask, how is it possible to have a thankful heart when our life looks bleak? Well, the answer is simple. When we operate in faith, God works in our favour. Therefore, the storm that we see does not last long and God will deliver us from our hardship in His time.
It is also important that while being thankful, we must also be faithful in everything we do and not allow our problems to throw us off track. Thankfulness and faithfulness create an atmosphere for God to function and turn things around in our favour.
Let us remember that our Lord is not indebted to anyone. When we thank Him, even if nothing is working out to our liking, He will give us a reason to be thankful. That’s the God we serve.
Prayer : Dear Lord, thank You for all that You have done for me. Teach me to always come into Your presence with thanksgiving and reverence. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
