Psalm 37:16-17 NKJV

A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.

Psalm 37 offers encouragement from David to live a righteous life. It is one where we strive to earn and lead a modest life, but we trust that God will provide for our needs and desires according to His timing and will, and we don’t feel envious when the wicked prosper.

We live in a world where everything is available at our fingertips, from getting grocery deliveries in 10 minutes to flying across continents within hours. It is a good advantage, but our patience with the rapidly paced world is declining. When we open social media apps and see someone achieving promotions or getting better pay at work, or an influencer showing the best version of their life, we wonder if we are lagging in our timelines.

The God of the Bible does not work that way. We don’t live by the world’s standard and definition of success. While we could try certain measures to succeed, Jesus sees the bigger picture. He knows what is best for His children; He considers eternity when He transforms us. We may be growing slowly in comparison to how the wicked flourish, but we have the assurance that “the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.”
