1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.“
In 1 John 3:2, the first line says, ‘Beloved, now we are children of God’, love how we are addressed as children of God from the point we start believing, just as we are. It talks about God’s unconditional love, where He does not say do this and that and you will be my children; instead, He loves us from the very point we have faith in Him.
Then it says, “We don’t yet know who we will be, but we know that when He does, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.” From this day on, who we will be in the future is not revealed to us. It is beyond our understanding to understand God’s plan for our future, but John clearly warns the believers about our lifestyle and fellowship with God. Even after we believe and accept Christ, that alone will not make us perfect. We need to grow in our spiritual journey to become Christ-like. God does not demand perfection or immediate transformation, but He will help us overcome all our temptations to strengthen us and become more like Him.
