Psalm 91:5-6 NKJV
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
Psalm 91 talks about the safety and protection that’s available for those who abide in the presence of the Lord. This is one psalm that’s worth memorizing, so you can replay it in your mind when fear or anxiety threatens to overwhelm you. In today’s verses, we find assurance for those who trust in the Lord – they won’t be afraid even when terror is all around.
The unfortunate reality is that we live in a world marred by evil. We’re surrounded by temptation and often face distressing situations that challenge our faith and threaten our peace. But it’s in those circumstances that we need to be courageous and turn to the Lord for help. We know that God will not allow terror to overpower us. Even when terrifying situations arise, we can hold on to the Lord and remember His promises towards us.
What are you afraid of today? Read through Psalm 91 and declare God’s Word over yourself. The Lord is your refuge and your fortress, trust in Him. He will cover you with His presence day and night. The Lord will be with you in times of trouble and deliver you from evil. You can be courageous in the face of danger because the Lord your God will never leave you nor forsake you. Hide yourself in Him and let His truth wash away all your fears.
