Isaiah 45:2 NKJV

“I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.”

The fear of the unknown or uncertainty is a psychological state of mind called intolerance of uncertainty (IU). One of the symptoms of IU is intense anxiety and an increased heartbeat. People typically develop this condition between childhood and early adulthood. The number of people developing IU has grown rapidly over the years, probably due to disturbing incidents happening around the globe today.

Isaiah 45:2 is a great source of comfort, calming us and keeping our hearts and minds focused above the storm. As children of God, we have always experienced divine intervention and deliverance, regardless of whatever happens around us.

Symbolically, the term “crooked places” in today’s verse refers to the obstacles and challenges we face. “Gates of brass” and “bars of iron” represent barriers and opposition that hinder us from fulfilling God’s purpose. The verse is a symbolic depiction of God breaking through obstacles and demonstrating His power to overcome and destroy anything that opposes His will for our lives.

So, let us remember to be still and know He is God despite our circumstances. Our Sovereign God will make all the rough places in our lives smooth. We can count on Him alone. He will guide us and will never leave nor forsake His people.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I put my faith in You alone that You will lead me in uncertainty and calm my heart amidst the storm. In Jesus name, Amen.
