Psalm 9:1
I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
David’s Psalm 9 is a celebration of God’s victories over Israel’s enemies. This psalm was sung by the king, his worship leaders, and his subjects together, publicly revealing God’s greatness and acknowledging His miraculous works.
Think about how extravagantly the world celebrates great victories! For instance, when our favorite sports team wins the Champions Cup, everyone goes wild celebrating their victory, even though they haven’t played the game. But then, before we know it, life moves on, and that victory fades into the background. After all, the joy of the world is fleeting.
In contrast, the joy of the Lord is our strength and not momentary. David, the heroic king of Israel, joyfully celebrated God’s glory (2 Samuel 6:14). When we have truly tasted and seen that the Lord is good, how can we not praise Him with our whole hearts? We will naturally want to share and sing of His unfailing love and mercies toward us.
How often do we celebrate the marvelous works of God in our lives?
For us as believers, our salvation is a gift we should always cherish. Every day of our lives, we should celebrate that Jesus took our place on the cross and set us free. Testify to the world about the divine joy, peace, and love we experience in our lives. Everyone around us should know how great our God is and how marvelous the work of His hand is! So today, celebrate His Lordship over your life as He loyally shepherds you.
