Deuteronomy 30:19 – “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
We are faced with a million choices in our lives. We have decisions to make right from the moment our alarms ring in the morning . Do we wake up, or snooze a few minutes more? Do we take some time to pray and read the Bible, or are we rushing out the door? Do we choose to eat something healthy for lunch, or do we visit the nearest fast food joint? When dealing with difficult people, do we get angry or remain calm? Do we go to bed on time, or stay up too late in front of a screen?
When faced with so many choices in any given day, we don’t always make the right ones. But can we leave it at that? Absolutely not. The Bible reminds us that when faced with choices, we ought to train ourselves to choose life. It’s not always easy to choose the things that bring us life. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can.
God wants us to live an abundant life, and that can only be done when we make the right choices. Take a few minutes today, and ask God to help you choose life in every decision you make. And soon, making the right choices will become a habit in your life.
