For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring. Isaiah 44:3
The mentioned verse is the revival promise given by God to His people of Israel as a prophecy through Isaiah. Although it was written for the people of Israel, this is applicable to all Gentiles and non-Jewish people who accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and become part of God’s people. God promised the outpouring of the Spirit to those who earnestly sought and thirsted for Him.
In recent days, we have been witnessing the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit on His people, leading to great revivals. God himself manifests greatly in people’s lives. God’s Word says those who believe were chosen by God. He knew us even before we formed in the mother’s womb and had set us apart before we were born. He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world and has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. But why? Because God’s Spirit pursues us. God’s sovereignty has placed His redemption on the people whom He has chosen to be holy and blameless, proclaiming His excellence.
The psalmist David, who was in the wilderness of Judah, sought after the Lord earnestly. He pours out his cravings before God. “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1). David’s soul-thirst drove him to seek his satisfaction in God.
We tend to think a lot about water whenever we are thirsty. If we are health conscious, perhaps we think of water regularly, ensure that our body doesn’t run into dehydration, and follow a disciplined plan. Similarly, it applies to the spiritual thirst for God.
Do you ever wonder if the signs are revealing that God is releasing His Spirit in our lives? Watch out for these signs. If you have felt the strong desire to draw closer to God, if you want to become more faithful and obedient to God’s Word, and if you have the longing that God will use you to serve His kingdom, then He has chosen you. God’s blessings are not just given but outpoured and are not restricted to us alone; they are outpoured even to our offspring. We are chosen to be blessed!
